The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Center operates weekly, Monday through Friday, offering programs for children of appropriate age. Its vision is for all youth in the Redding area to have equal access to educational, recreational, and enriching opportunities within a supportive environment. Whether providing access to a free computer lab and lending library for homework, or hosting group activities that encourage respect, self-awareness, and healthy relationships, the Dr. MLK Jr. Center serves as a safe and reliable outlet for kids and teens.

To get your FREE one-week Guest Pass, please visit the Member Services Desk anytime the Y is open.
Guests of the Shasta Family YMCA receive the same full access to facilities and programs as members. This includes group exercise classes, equipment orientations, youth programs, the fitness center, pools, and more. Guest passes are valid for seven days from the date of initial registration.
Guest passes are for area residents who are new to the Shasta Family YMCA or have not been a member within the last year.
A valid photo ID is required in order to register for a Guest Pass. Please allow 10-15 minutes to process a guest pass registration.

The California State Parks Pass provides free vehicle day-use entry to participating state park units operated by State Parks. The Parks Pass is valid for entry of one passenger vehicle with capacity of nine people or less or one highway licensed motorcycle.

One of many activity options, the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a teenager-based group at Shasta Public Libraries for ages 12-17. TAB members help plan and set up events, make and donate items to benefit the community, work on skills and creativity, and participate in projects, all while gaining volunteer hours. Meets Tuesdays 6-7:30pm

Hope City provides one-on-one mentoring within a small group setting, as well as buddy mentoring, where two mentors are paired with two mentees. The organization is dedicated to supporting at-risk youth by fostering consistent and caring relationships with trusted adults. These relationships are designed to enhance academic performance, promote social-emotional development, and contribute to the overall well-being of the youth. Hope City mentors serve as positive role models, exemplifying healthy behaviors and core values.
Mentoring activities for at-risk youth at Hope City typically include:
Outdoor Recreation: Involvement in physical activities such as sports, hiking, or games to build teamwork, enhance physical fitness, and promote social engagement.
Skill Building: Participation in workshops or hands-on activities focused on developing life skills like problem-solving, communication, and conflict resolution.
Goal Setting: Guidance in establishing personal and academic goals, including discussions about future aspirations, creating actionable plans, and monitoring progress.
Supportive Conversations: Opportunities for open dialogue in a safe environment, addressing academic challenges, family dynamics, and personal concerns.
Creative Outlets: Encouragement of self-expression through art forms such as painting, writing, or crafting, offering a means for emotional exploration and release
